Hey family,
I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning than together—in community, walking with purpose.
On Saturday, April 11, I’m inviting you to join me at the National Harbor for a 7:30 AM walk in partnership with Mamatoto Village.
This one is really special.
Mamatoto Village has built something powerful right here in Northeast DC—a space rooted in care, dignity, and deep commitment to Black mothers and families. The way they show up for the community is intentional. It’s consistent. It’s life-saving work.
And it’s so aligned with what we believe at GirlTREK.
This isn’t just a partnership—it’s a reflection of the kind of world we’re building together. One where Black women are supported, seen, and cared for at every stage of life.
And yes, this work is also deeply personal. Mamatoto Village was founded by my good friend and sister, Aza Nedhari, and our communities have already been walking alongside each other. Her team has shown up with us—even joining us at Stress Protest—and this is one more way we continue that connection.
This walk is part of Black Maternal Health Week, and the truth is simple:
Black mothers are still dying too soon.
So we gather.
We walk.
We stand together in love, in solidarity, and in action.
Come be with us along the water. Come be in sisterhood. Come be part of something that matters.
