Dear ,
You have a crew waiting for you. They’re on the Underground — our new app.
Black women have always built networks to save each other. From the front porches where nothing was unspeakable, to the church basements where nobody went hungry, to the freedom networks that moved whole people to safety with nothing but trust and a whispered direction: this way. Follow me. I will not leave you behind.
We are those women. And today, we are building our network in the light of day. |

If you missed our April 1st Membership Meeting, we unveiled The Underground — GirlTREK’s new platform. On the surface, it may seem like a fitness app, but in the true spirit of clandestine networks, it is much more.
It was built to replenish us, inspire us, connect, mobilize, and organize us — into crews.
One + you = a Crew. A crew walks, talks, and solves problems together. A crew is a lifeline — and research shows that women with a walking partner are more consistent and more motivated than those who walk alone. We have set up several crews on the Underground with one goal: to invite our one million members into a deeper community.
Here’s how to find yours, how to start one, and why it matters:

Here is what that looks like in practice.
This week, Vanessa’s cousin Angele took her first walk on the Underground. She texted Vanessa to share the milestone. Vanessa texted back: I’m starting a cousins crew in the app. I’ll send you an invite.
She said: Yes, please.

That’s a crew. Right there. Two people. A text. A yes.
Maybe your daughter is away at college — start a crew with just the two of you and walk together virtually. Maybe your coworkers could use a lunchtime walk. Maybe it’s your church. Maybe it’s your sorority. Maybe it’s the three women on your street who keep saying they need to move more.
Whoever just came to mind — that’s your crew. Go get them and invite them to walk tomorrow.
Tomorrow is Sisterhood Saturday — April 11th.
Our weekly day of solidarity. And this week we want to run the Solidarity Counter up by showing up on the same day, on purpose, with intention.
If you are one in a million — be counted. Log in tomorrow. Log your walk.
