Dear North Star Sisters,

There are women all around us who are carrying a lot.

They are caring for aging parents and spouses. Raising children and grandchildren. Showing up for church members, neighbors and friends. Leading ministries. Serving their communities. Checking on everybody else.

And often, they are doing it quietly.

This month, as GirlTREK centers Caring for the Caregivers as part of our Joy & Justice Agenda, our North Star Faith Community is asking a simple but important question:

Who is caring for the caregiver?

Scripture reminds us:

β€œCarry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” β€” Galatians 6:2

Caring for caregivers isn't only about encouraging them to rest or practice self-care. It's also about community careβ€”noticing when someone is carrying too much and asking, How can I help carry this with you?

Maybe it's preparing a meal. Sitting with an aging parent for an hour. Taking someone for a walk. Offering transportation. Making a phone call. Praying together. Or simply creating space for a woman to say, β€œI'm tired,” without immediately expecting her to keep going.

This month, let's make our faith visible through care.

WALK with her.
TALK with her.
Help SOLVE something with her.

FAITH IN ACTION: CARE FOR A CAREGIVER

This month, we're challenging every North Star sister to identify one caregiver in your circle.

Instead of only asking, β€œHow are you doing?” try asking:

β€œWhat is one thing I can take off your plate this week?”

Then listen.

Maybe she needs prayer. Maybe it's a meal. Maybe she needs someone to walk with her. Maybe she needs help finding a resource. Maybe she simply needs an hour when nobody needs anything from her.

Whatever it is, look for one way to turn your concern into care in action. Because sometimes the most powerful ministry isn't a program.

It's showing up!

WHO CARES FOR THE CAREGIVER?
Faith β€’ Rest β€’ Community β€’ Care

Tuesday, September 29, 2026
8 PM ET | 7 PM CT | 6 PM MT | 5 PM PT

This month's North Star Gathering will create space for an honest conversation about the women who spend so much of their lives caring for others.

We'll talk about caregiving, the weight women sometimes carry silently, the role faith communities can play in supporting caregivers, and what it looks like to move beyond simply saying, β€œI'm praying for you,” to becoming part of someone's circle of care.

Whether you are a caregiver, have been one, love someone who is, or simply want your faith community to become better at caring for those who care for othersβ€”there is a place for you in this conversation.

Come as you are. Leave encouraged, equipped and connected.

Whether your camera is on or off, whether you're joining from your living room or while taking an evening walk, you are welcome to join, there is a place for you in this community.

🎧 WALK WITH HER: "SISTERHOOD UNMUTED"

Caring for the Next Generation

What if one walk could open the door to a conversation a young woman has been waiting to have?

This month, we're inviting our North Star Faith Community to extend our circle of care to the next generation.

Sisterhood Unmuted is GirlTREK's new Walk Show hosted by Tyreen Taylor and Nyra G, created for young women navigating life one step, one truth and one breakthrough at a time.

Through honest conversations that blend lived experience, faith, culture, humor and vulnerability, Tyreen and Nyra create a space where intergenerational wisdom meets everyday lifeβ€”and remind young women:

β€œYou are not alone.”

Now we're asking our Faith Community to help bring those conversations off the headphones and into community.

WILL YOU WALK WITH HER?

Invite a young woman from your congregation, ministry, family or community to take a walk with you.

Listen to an episode of Sisterhood Unmuted together.

Then keep walkingβ€”and start talking.

Ask what resonated with her. Listen to what she's carrying. Make room for her questions. Share wisdom without judgment. Create a safe space where young women can unmute their own stories.

WALK. Listen to an episode together.

TALK. Create space for honest, intergenerational conversation.

SOLVE. Ask how your faith community can better support young women as they navigate life, faith and purpose.

CALLING ALL YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES!

We're especially inviting Youth Ministries, Young Adult Ministries, Women's Ministries and Faith Crew Leaders to join us.

Take a walk with the young women in your congregation. Listen together. Talk together. And begin creating spaces for these conversations within your own community.

TAKE THE PLEDGE: WALK WITH HER

Encourage your young women to download the GirlTREK Underground App so they can continue walking, listening and connecting with the sisterhood.

One walk. One conversation. One young woman knowing she doesn't have to navigate life alone.

SOMETHING POWERFUL IS COMING πŸ™πŸΎ

North Star Sisters,

As we move into October, we'll continue putting our faith into actionβ€”on the pavement, in our communities and through prayer.

Prepare your crews, ministries, congregations and yourselves for new opportunities for our Faith Community to walk together, pray together and take action together around the issues that matter most to Black women, our families and our communities.

We aren't giving it all away just yet.

But we can tell you this:

There is power when women walk together.

There is power when women pray together.

And there is power when women act together.

More is coming soon. πŸ’™πŸ§‘

Plan your walks now for the First Saturday Faith Treks on Sisterhood Saturday, October 3rd and each Sisterhood Saturday following! We look forward to seeing you on the pavement!

πŸ“Έ TELL US YOUR STORY: WE WANT TO SEE YOUR FAITH IN ACTION

Did your Faith Crew walk this month?

Did you care for a caregiver?

Did your church or ministry walk and listen to Sisterhood Unmuted with young women?

Did something meaningful happen during a walk, prayer or conversation?

Tell us about it.

Share your photos, testimonies, stories of healing and moments of connection with the North Star Faith Community.

Your story may be exactly what another sister, congregation or ministry needs to see to take action in their own community.

SHARE YOUR NORTH STAR STORY

πŸ’™ WILL YOU HELP US GROW THE NORTH STAR FAITH COMMUNITY?

BECOME A FAITH CREW LEADER

The North Star Faith Community grows when women are willing to create spaces where others can walk, talk, heal, connect and lead.

You don't have to have all the answers.

You don't have to be a pastor.

You don't have to build a large ministry.

Sometimes leadership begins with something as simple as saying:

β€œI'll walk with you.”

If you feel called to bring women together through faith, movement and community, we'd love to help you take the next step.

LEARN MORE ABOUT BECOMING A FAITH CREW LEADER

As we close this month, our prayer is simple.

May God strengthen the women who have been strong for everyone else.

May the caregivers among us receive the same tenderness they so freely give.

May our faith communities become places where asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but an invitation to community.

May our elders know they are valued.

May our younger sisters know they are heard.

May we notice the women carrying heavy thingsβ€”and have the courage to help lift the load.

May we become communities where generations don't simply worship beside one another, but walk with one another, listen to one another and learn from one another.

And may we remember that sometimes the answer to someone's prayer isn't another program, another meeting or another message.

Sometimes...

it's us showing up.

Until we gather again,

Keep walking.
Keep believing.
Keep leading.
And keep caring for one another.
