Hey Family,

It’s your girl, Vanessa. For those who don’t know me, I’m one of the cofounders of GirlTREK.

I’m going to be in Phoenix this weekend, Sunday, April 26th, and I’m really excited because I haven’t spent much time in Arizona. While I’m on the ground, I want to help facilitate a simple meet-and-greet—bringing together women who are already walking, whether solo or in crews… or even if you’ve never walked at all.

This is a perfect time to pull up, come outside, and bring a friend.

I’m partnering with my homegirl Lindsay Love—she’s the cofounder of Girlfriend Culture, a community-building space for Black women here in Arizona. I invited her to come walk with us, and she’s bringing some of her crew too.

Sunday Stroll  

Location: Steele Indian School Park  

When: Sunday, April 26th

Time: 12 PM (we’ll be out there until about 2–3 PM)

Where to go:  

Enter the park from Central Ave & Farrington Drive — this is important because other entrances won’t take you to where we are.

Once you’re in, head toward the large group ramada area (that’s where we’ll meet and start). If you see a big covered picnic structure near open green space and walking paths, you’re in the right place.

Parking:  

Park in Lot A if you can (it’s the closest to the ramada).  

Lot B also works if A is full—just expect a short walk over.

The walk:  

We’ll do one easy loop around the lake—it’s a clear, paved path and easy to follow, so no stress if you’re new.

After:  

We’ll hang out back at the ramada area for a bit—so if you can, throw a blanket, water, or snacks in your trunk and stay awhile.

Bring a friend. Come as you are.
